Zajac Ranch

Our host camp for the weekend is the beautiful Zajac Ranch, located on Stave Lake in Mission, BC. Zajac Ranch boasts 40 acres of modern lodgings and various locations for activities - our perfect wedding getaway in the woods.

As a bonus, all proceeds from the wedding go back into the camp, to sponsor children with disabilities attending camp.

Note that the location is 100% NUT FREE. Some of the children who come to the camps are deathly allergic to nuts and we risk their lives if we bring food with nuts into the camp.

Accommodations

All guests are provided shared or private accommodations onsite at Zajac Ranch. Staying onsite will allow you take part in all wedding activities without having to drive anywhere!

There are three options for lodging:

1. Zajac Ranch has three lodges and each lodge has two sections of shared accommodations and a handful of private rooms. Shared rooms will be divided up among relatives and friends - your roommates will be people you know (unless you secretly request on your RSVP otherwise). Each room holds about 15 people. Dividers will also be available to create additional privacy. Each bed is either a single or a queen. Local guests - please bring bedding (pillow, sheet and comforter). Out of towners - we will arrange bedding for you. Just like camp, your room assignments will be given at the Friday welcome dinner on August 5.

Common rooms are located within each lodge in addition to private washrooms and showers. For more information on rooms, please contact us at nagelringrose@gmail.com.

2. There are three teepees that accommodate up to 8 people each. Please indicate on your RSVP whether you would be interested in shared teepee accommodations.

3. You're welcome to pitch a tent on the grounds and make it a real camping experience! Please indicate on your RSVP if you will be camping.

Directions

The camp's address is 15600 Florence Lake Rd, Mission, BC V4S 1C4

Packing List

If you'll be staying with us at Zajac Ranch (we really hope you will!), please keep the following in mind when you're packing:

Bedding (pillow, sheet, comforter or sleeping bag) for locals. Out of towners - we've got you covered.
Semi-formal outfit for ceremony & reception (but leave your tallest heels at home as there is some gravel)
Basic toiletries: toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, compact mirror for putting on make-up, etc.
Sunscreen
Headlamp or flashlight to make your way around camp
Shower towel
Flip flops or water sandals for the shower
Pajamas & slippers
Lots of layers as it can get cold in the evening
Your best dance moves!

Alternative Accommodations

Alternative hotels

We'd love it if everyone could stay at camp with us, but we realize that staying in cabins might not be your thing. If you prefer, hotels and B&Bs are located about a 20min drive away.

Flights

From Holland you can fly with KLM or Air Transat to YVR airport. During the summer there will be a daily KLM flight and a daily flight with Air Transat.

Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA)

Citizens from countries that do not need a visa to enter Canada now need an Electronic Travel Authorization (eTA) to fly to Canada (effective March 15). An eTA is valid for five years or until your passport expires, whichever comes first. Applying for an eTA is easy and will cost CAD$7. Learn more and apply online at: Canada.ca/new-eTA

Transportation

From the airport, it's a flat-rate price of $31 to take a taxi to downtown Vancouver.

You can also take the Canada Line Skytrain from the airport to the closest station near your hotel.

YVR offers a wide variety of car rental companies (Avis, Hertz, National and many more). Please book well ahead.

Accommodations

Airbnb

If you are coming in early or staying longer, we highly recommend Airbnb (used it in Holland, Paris, Quebec, Tofino with great results).

Larger groups may be able to get an inexpensive house to share in the suburbs of Vancouver (for example Burnaby or North Vancouver).

Things to Do

Stanley Park

Stanley Park is a short walk from our apartment and full of local adventures. Rent a bike and ride around the seawall, walk parts of the seawall and take in the beach, or take a run on one of the trails.

Granville Island

Granville Island is a peninsula and shopping district in Vancouver. It is located across False Creek from Downtown Vancouver, under the south end of the Granville Street Bridge.

Hiking

There are many, many beautiful hikes of every level within 30-45 minutes' drive.

Whale watching

Vancouver whale-watching tours offer breathtaking scenery and wildlife viewing just minutes from a major urban centre. There are several companies offering tours.

Vancouver Island

If you plan to extend your stay in British Columbia, we recommend a trip to Vancouver Island. Check out Tofino for surfing or Victoria for its laid back island charm, parliament buildings and museums.

Whistler

Located in the spectacular Coast Mountains of British Columbia just two hours north of Vancouver, Whistler is Canada’s favourite year-round destination. There's two majestic mountains with a vibrant base Village, epic skiing and snowboarding, four championship golf courses, unbeatable shopping, restaurants and bars, hiking trails, spas and arguably the best mountain bike park in the world.

Gifts

Many of you are travelling far to share this weekend with us. Your presence (and perhaps a helping hand or two) is all we ask.

We need no pots, pans, dishes or other tangible gifts; we have all of this (too much already and our storage unit is rather full).

But... if you really want to give something, we will be grateful for a small cash contribution towards our honeymoon and/or a thoughtful card with your best advice!
